Carolina Liar Reflection

Blogging After House Of Blues Show
July 21st, 2008

Tonight was our last night with One Republic and The Daylights. It’s been less than a week yet still we have grown very fond of them, they are probably the best bands we’ve toured with. I hope that very soon we can all be back on the road together again. Once we got down to San Diego we met up with Gary who took us over to meet the one and only Christy Taylor at The X. The X have been a very good station to us and it has been a lot of fun to go and just hang out with them. The show went off without a hitch at the House Of Blues. We said our good-byes to all the guys and set off across the Desert to Tempe. The moon was full across the desert as we were driving through it. It was very beautiful. At some point I played the worst joke on Max that I possibly could. At a gas station they were selling cooked crickets so I bought a box. I told Max that I had some candy in the van. The inside of the car was very dark, I offered him some “candy” and he just put out his hand. Took the “candy” and put it in his mouth. Something obviously did not taste right to him and he screamed so loud Bill almost lost control of the car. I Promise I will never do that again.

Chad Blogging on Tour
July 17th, 2008

San Francisco for two days!
On our way up tonight we stopped at a Super 8 Hotel. Turned out the hotel rooms were filled with thousands of crickets. We didn’t stay however, they still tried to charge us for the rooms. I was so tired I didn’t even think to take a picture of the crickets, which would have been interesting. We stopped at a place called Los Banos it was a good town, minus the crickets. We all got some sleep and Sunday morning I went out and shot a few photos of the town before we left for San Francisco.

We checked into the Phoenix around 2 and there was some crazy fashion-show-pool-party, happening it was pretty awesome! San Francisco will never let you down. Then it really hit us that we were playing at the Filmore just that night. I mean come on that was one amazing room. Jim got some great footage he’s going to post from there. Last nigth we met up with ‘The Daylights’ they are going to join the road show for the next three gigs and they are a really great band. The crowd here tonight was really solid and big, just great! Phantom Planet killed it and so did One Republic! Tomorrow we have the day off so I’m gonna be able to get my voice back to where it needs to be. But thank you Filmore for a great time!

At the Phoenix and a day to do nothing.

We didn’t do much today besides some laundry and checking in to new hotel rooms, I tried to answer every body on myspace, went to guitar center, tried to find a book we need to read , then had some lunch at this great place called Lee’s. The guys from ‘The Daylights’ were playing at an art gallery so Johan and I decided to try and join up with them. It turned out to be a really cool place 111 Mina, check it out if you are in the area, the people there are really nice and they are sharing some serious art for the world to see. The guys from the daylights took us out afterwards to a great speak easy that you needed a code to get into. Some of the guys from One Republic were there too. It was really a classy scene We felt like we had no business being there!

Tuesday

Tonight we just played in Sacramento. We had a very good crowd again. For the most part we spent about two hours driving down from San Francisco then played our set around 8:15. At the moment we are heading down to San Diego for the House of Blues show that we have for tomorrow. We are going to drive until three and stay in Bakersfield for the night. Thank you guys for everything again. If you are reading this on a Wednesday morning and you are in San Diego come down and hang out with all us.

The Band In Calgary

Check out this video of Carolina Liar hanging out in Calgary, Canada.

Updates From Chad
July 14th, 2008

Shooting the New Video:

What an absolutely crazy couple of days. I left South
Carolina to fly up to New York, then to Atlantic city.
On Monday night we had a fitting then
Bill drove us out to the Atlantic City.
When we got there we soon learned
why it was such a great city to shoot a video in.
We stayed at the Tropicana in the Havana Tower.

Tuesday:

The shoot did not start until 5PM, so we took the
extra time to check out the Jersey shore.
It’s really quite nice. We all got some cheese steaks and
David treated us to some cherry Italian ice with vanilla ice cream.

We got checked in with all the prelim stuff at 5PM
and started shooting at 7 on the beach.
The director for the video is Diane Martel and
she and her crew were some of the coolest people I have
ever had the chance to meet. It got really cold that night.
Some of the setups included people dancing in the water!
I don’t know how they did it! At one point we did get
asked by a couple of working girls if we wanted to make a video
with them for the special price of $100 for two…
we didn’t take them up on there generous offer.
That was Day 1 of the show video.

Wednesday:

Managed to get some sleep today. I didn’t get out of
bed until 3pm. Our production suite is located in
the Taj Mahal, the hotel owned by Trump.
It’s pretty funny because everything in the hotel is
Trump products. Trump lotion, napkins, soap it’s all
Trump. First shot for the day was at a hotel called the Ascot.
Most of the shooting today was going to be inside the city.
Diane set up so many cool things that fit the song so well.
We had old gangsters, crazy card dealers, helicopters we
really got the works! We finished Thursday morning and
I stayed up to catch my flight back to Los Angeles.

Thursday:

I got back to Los Angeles around 5PM and met Bill and
Johan at the Airport. The guys had been in Sweden for
a couple of days to so we got our stuff together,
went home and got ready for Love Line!
It’ was only Jim and I on the show.
I don’t know how Dr. Drew and Striker can keep a straight face.
Some of the questions were just crazy. The show went well.
They let us play two songs and played ‘I’m Not Over’ from the CD.

Friday:

Today starts the tour again for us.
We started the morning off with an acoustic
set at the Atlantic Records Office . Once we
were finished we had to fly down to the pier for the
Red Bull Experiment. There will soonbe a video on
YouTube showing the madness that was going on down there.
We were going to hang out with everyone from
Red Bull but we were all so tired that we had to go home.
Tomorrow we are playing the Pacific Amphitheater with
One Republic and Phantom Planet!

Saturday:

This is another big day. My voice is pretty tired
from this week so today wasn’t as easy as I would
have hoped for. No matter, we made our way out to Los
Angeles and head down to Costa Mesa!
This is one really nice place to play
it’s huge !!! We get in as the guys from
One Republic are about to sound
check. It’s one of those days again where we
are all having to pinch ourselves. Yesterday we played
to maybe 10,000 people and today could be the
same! We had a blast playing for everyone that came out!
Right now we are on our way to San Francisco
for another show with One Republic and Phantom Planet.
I hope to see you guys there!!
